As a community club, providing a safe and inclusive environment for underage players to play and enjoy football is fundamental to Beechwood F.C. Whilst we now have circa 850 players in our club, we are very cognisant of the fact that there are children in our community that may not get the opportunity to play due to their specific needs.
To that end we would like to explore the opportunity of setting up our own Football for All Programme, for children between 4 to 14 years old with Down Syndrome or Autism.
Our friends in the FFA team from Knocklyon United FA are coming to the grounds of the Royal Hospital Donnybrook to train at 2pm on Saturday October 30th. Working with the FAI and Special Olympics body, they currently have 50 children registered and 35 training weekly in their FFA squad. It will be a great opportunity for children in our area to come along and join in and for parents to learn more about FFA and meet other parents whose children are participating in the FAI FFA program at Knocklyon United.
If you have a child or are aware of a family with a child with Down Syndrome or Autism that would like the chance to play football with Beechwood FC please tell them about our session. It should be fun for all involved…and as it is Halloween weekend, there may be few fun surprises in store!
